w-a-v-v-e-s: Wavves’ new album Afraid of Heights is out March 26 via Mom + Pop. And after divulging a few album details and sharing the track “Sail to the Sun”, the band has offered the tracklist, artwork, and a new song from the King of the Beach follow up. Check out “Demon to Lean On” above. Afraid of Heights is available for pre-order now. You can buy it on vinyl, with a bunch of pins, with a t-shirt, and with Nathan Williams’ Negative Dad comics. Williams discussed the overall tone of the new album in a press release: “The general theme of the record is depression and anxiety, being death-obsessed and paranoid of impending doom. I feel like the narration is almost schizophrenic if you listen front to back; every word is important, even the constant contradictions and lack of self-worth. That’s all a part of this record-questioning everything not because I’m curious, but because I’m paranoid.” The press release also notes that Williams paid for the album’s sessions out-of-pocket. Aspreviously reported, Afraid of Heights will feature guest work from Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley frontwoman and bearer of pot cookies.
